Global markets had all rebounded in overnight trading as investor sentiment turned positive on hopes of a euro zone stimulus package; a Chinese cut in interest rates; and expectations that Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke would address the possibility of further quantitative easing. When Bernanke announced that there would be no US stimulus package at this time, the markets turned sour and created a near hostile trading environment.
