The Truth About Trading Strategies
You need them. They're one of the single most important factors when it comes to your trading success.

Here's the thing to consider with markets: they only move in three directions.

Now, two of our strategies can be used in markets moving up. Two of our strategies can be used in markets moving down. And our last strategy can be used in markets moving sideways. And the fact that we have strategies for all of those types of market movements means that our strategies will work in ANY market.
Why? Because EVERY market is moving up, down, or sideways.
But here's the thing about strategies: they're a dime a dozen. That's right - ours aren't all that special either. I admit it.
You've seen it on other sites, right? FREE trading strategies! Come and get 'em! YOU can have ONE! Two! Fifty! What a deal! Well, actually, it's not. Because after they give you fifty free trading strategies, they ask you to sign up for their program at the low, low price of about $10,000 or worse. Free trading strategies are a hook, nothing more.
And the problem is that strategies do NOT make a good trader. Only time, knowledge, experience, and guidance can make you the trader you want to be.
And I can prove it to you - maybe you've heard of the Ralph Vince Experiment.
Ralph Vince is a well-respected and well-known financial investor and educator. He's published a number of books on trading and the trading industry, and he also performed a very famous experiment known as the Ralph Vince Experiment. Okay, the name's not that inspired, but the results of the experiment definitely ARE.
Basically, Mr. Vince took 40 Ph.D.s and set them up to trade with a computer game. Now, these forty people all had doctorates, but Mr. Vince made sure that none of their doctorates involved any sort of background in statistics or trading. In the game, they were given $1,000 and 100 trades, with a 60% winning percentage. When they won, they won the amount of money they risked. When they lost, they lost the amount of money they risked. Simple.
So, after all 40 had completed their 100 trades, how many do you think made money?
Only 2 doctorates out of 40 were able to make money. The other 38 failed to succeed.
Those are pretty convincing statistics. 95% of the candidates lost out. And why? Because they fell into the age-old traps: poor money management, gambler's fallacy, and lack of discipline, guidance, and experience.
Did they have a strategy? Yeah! Remember, 100 trades with a 60% winning percentage. Mr. Vince GAVE them a strategy to use! Obviously, though, the strategy was useless without the knowledge and guidance that trading requires.

So don't let them fool you - sure, strategies are important. I agree with everyone out there who says so. And I have a number of strategies that I use and recommend. But without the proper coaching in addition to your strategies, you might as well chuck them out the window.

So now you've gotten a good look at our strategies and how we use them. Again, we like to keep things simple and straightforward here, and our strategies are no exception.
There's one more important thing I'd like to cover in this section here, and that's our software. It's amazing to me how many people's first concern about our program is the software we use. Oh sure, it's a very important thing, but if it were me, I'd probably be a little more concerned with whether or not the head of the company was crazy. I'm not, by the way. Just in case you were wondering.
The job of your software is to help you identify the direction of the market. Up, down, or sideways. If you took a look at the strategies video above, you'll know that the software we use, Genesis Trade Navigator, and the templates that we've developed, track the market direction using colored bars.
This software is definitely something you'll be using in your trades, but it's not the tool that will bring you success. It's only a crutch for you to lean on. It's like your training wheels. It's your own dedication, knowledge, and discipline that will help you capture your success, not the software you're using.
And that's it. No secrets, no tricks, no overly complicated techniques. It seems obvious that these things would all work rather nicely, doesn't it? But, as you already know, there's more to trading than just the strategy part.
Factors like poor discipline, uncontrolled emotions, and basic trader's greed are easy enough to identify, but extremely difficult to fix, and it doesn't matter how sound your strategy is, or how reliable your software might be. These things are habits, and they're deeply ingrained in most of the traders that I talk with every day.
And that's why there's more to trading than just having a strategy. Because a strategy can't help you beat things like poor discipline, uncontrolled emotions, and greed. The only thing that can do that is…

In order to succeed with trading, you're going to need some advantage that the losing 70% of traders just don't have. And luckily, you'll get that advantage with us. Simply put, there is no better way to learn. Practical experience is the most valuable thing you can gain in this industry, and that's exactly what we provide you with here.
It's important for you to understand that as a Rockwell student, YOU are responsible for your trading performance…and your coach is responsible for YOU. You'll need to work together to achieve success. Your coach will be taking you through the "basic training" of our Day Trading program, explaining our templates and trading software, teaching our strategies, and mapping your progress and improvements for maximum trading results.
Our Day Trading Coach consists of four coaching sessions. Now, keep in mind, the length of your sessions will vary based on how you and your coach interact. The speed and content of the sessions will be based on YOUR needs and YOUR trading. Typically, coaching sessions will be about 60-80 minutes long. Of course, sometimes, they take three hours. Either length is fine, as long as you're getting the support you need for your success.
As I said, each coaching session will be tailored to YOUR specific needs and wants. However, we will follow a certain outline that has proven to be successful.

In the first coaching session, we'll teach you two different strategies. It's very important that you practice these strategies, both in back-testing and real-time, which is why we'll assign you homework. We let YOU choose the market and the dates, so there's absolutely no cherry-picking. You will test these strategies on at least 40 trades, which should take you approximately 10 hours to complete.
Once you've completed your trades, you'll send in your trading log so that your coach can analyze your progress and results. He'll see which of the concepts you understood and if there's anything he should cover again in the next session. The trading logs will automatically produce a "mini track record" for you, cataloging your profits, winning percentage, average profit/loss, drawdown, etc.

Reviewing your trades
How to identify trending days using the confirmation lines
When NOT to trade
Reversals and Spike Reversals
Examples
Introducing a third and fourth trading strategy
Examples
Entering, modifying and canceling orders
Adjusting and refining the trading plan

In the second session you'll learn two additional strategies, and, again, you'll practice these strategies through homework. By practicing with the various strategies, you'll get a good feel for which ones you like and which ones don't quite suit you. For example, you might find that you like trend-following strategies better than trend-fading strategies.
Most likely this preference will be visible in your trading logs as well. It's only natural: we are good at things we like to do and we do not perform well at things we don't like to do (bookkeeping in my case - I hate bookkeeping!). Through your logs, we'll both have an idea of what works for you and what doesn't.
A big mistake that traders constantly make is trading a strategy that they don't feel comfortable with, which means they're not enjoying what they're doing. In all things, and especially in trading, you should LOVE what you do and enjoy doing it every day, even if you experience a loss.

Reviewing your trades
Diversifying in different markets

Using different timeframes

Adjusting the trading plan
In your third session, we'll introduce you to a wide variety of different markets. Remember, always trade multiple markets! Never be focused on only one market. If there's nothing to trade today in the e-minis, trade the currencies. If there's nothing going on there, trade the grains! You'll learn how to trade 6-8 different markets, and, chances are, a few of those markets will be entirely new to you.
And THAT'S one of the main elements of coaching: pushing you out of your comfort zone so that you can achieve the results you're looking for. After all, if you keep doing what you always did, you will always get the same results, right? Just like with the trading strategies, you will develop a preference for some markets over others, and that's good. But, regardless of your favorites, you'll have the knowledge to trade them all! And you'll never know what you like or dislike until you try out your options.
And of course, there will be homework. As always!
Coaching Session Four:
We will use the fourth session to finalize your trading plan.
Possible topics are:
Selecting the right trading strategy for YOU
Planning your trading day
Money management and position sizing
How to boost your profits with options
Planning for long-term success
In your fourth coaching session, we'll wrap up the first part of your education - this is about going into the details. We're going to write down and record your trading plan: your monthly and weekly profit goals, what market(s) you're going to trade, when you're going to trade, and, last but not least, your trading strategy, including entry signals, exit signals, and other key rules.
We'll also cover the important aspects of money management, showing you how many contracts you should trade right now and how your account should grow over time. That's your compass. And, don't forget, whenever you get lost or off track, you can call us, and we'll help you straighten things out. Lifetime access to our coaching team is included in your initial enrollment fee, and we want you to take advantage of it! No additional charge.
So, that's the overview of the program. I know it's a lot of information, but I feel like you should have a clear view of what you're getting yourself into here.
