How To Get What You Want in Life: Everything You’ve Ever Wanted Is on The Other Side of Fear

Let’s talk about how to get what you want in life.

How to get what you want in life: This is one of the quotes that I really like that has to do with how to get what you want: “Everything you have ever wanted is on the other side of fear.”

Here’s an example.

If you have been following me for a while, you know that I’ve been skydiving, a tandem jump. Have you been skydiving? Let me know if you have in the comments below.

Now, were you scared before you jumped out of the plane? Were you nervous and did you maybe experience some fear?

I know I did! They actually had to ask two strong guys to help me out of the plane here because I really didn’t want to jump.

How did you feel afterwards? I mean, it felt fantastic, didn’t it?

Think about it.

What have you done that you were afraid of and then were glad that you did it?

You see, one of the most important things in my life that I did that was scary as hell, that I was afraid to do, was to leave my job at IBM to become a trader.

This was way back in 2002, was this scary? Yes. Did I have fear? Absolutely.

So, let’s talk about it.

What does it mean? What does fear stand for?

how to get what you want in life

Fear is actually an acronym and the F stands for False, the E: expectations, the A stands for Appearing and the R, real. So, it’s an acronym for: false expectations appearing real.

Because this is what’s going on in our head before we make a decision, before we do something new… “What if,” right?

And for me, when I was skydiving it was, “What if the parachute doesn’t work? What if I’m coming down too hard and I break my legs.”

When I quit my job to become a trader, all of this programming was going on in my head. “What if… I fail? Or others then judge me that I tried something, and I did not succeed? They reject me?”

And you see, this is where it becomes interesting.

We have all these things going on in our head.

All these possible scenarios of things that could go wrong, but think about it… Instead of focusing what could go wrong, what if it worked?

For me, fortunately, it worked out that I was able to leave my corporate job and become financially free over the past years, but often, we don’t do things because there’s a fear of failure.

We have to get over it because if you fear that all these things go wrong… You see, what you believe to be true is true for you. So, if you believe that you will fail, there’s a good chance that you will fail.

You have to make sure that you set yourself up for success.

Because we have this fear, often this is where we procrastinate. How often did you do something that you feared, where you wished that you would have done it way earlier?

For me, leaving IBM, leaving a corporate life… After I did it, I said: ‘I wish I would have done that much, much earlier.’

“Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear.”

Take action. Push through the fear. Set the fear aside. Set all this self-doubt aside and go for it. And if you fail, learn from your mistakes and then get up and do it again.

Hopefully, when making a decision you’re not going to die from it, and you see, money always finds a way to come back to you.
