Part 1: Goal Setting Workshop

Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Goal Setting

We all know that people who have goals are more successful. So it's obvious that we should have goals. right?

Here’s a scary fact:

According to the best research, less than 3 percent of Americans have written goals.

So what’s holding them back?

Why wouldn't we set goals, if we know that they're so powerful?

What IS the best way to set goals?

And most importantly: What's the best way to ensure you achieve your goals?

THAT’s what we are going to talk about in this article. So let's get started!

We all know how powerful goals are, so why wouldn’t we set them?

Here are the 5 reasons why some people don't set goals:

1. Lack of Belief:

Many people don’t believe that they can achieve something extraordinary. As an example, most people don’t believe that they can become a multimillionaire in 3 years or less. Or they don’t believe that they can be lean, fit and healthy. And many times, people around us are holding us back! But here’s the important thing: Don’t let somebody gave up on their dreams talk you out of yours!

2. Previous Disappointments

Most people set goals at some point in their life. But for whatever reason – lack of a plan, lack of strategy, lack of action - they don’t achieve their goals. And have you ever heard THIS: “If I don’t set high goals, then I won’t be disappointed.” That’s the wrong attitude. Set a goal that makes you jump out of bed every morning.

3. Fear:

Many people don’t set goals because they fear they won’t achieve them. Or worse: They fear what happened when they DO achieve their goals! Let me give you an example: Recently, at one of my events, I talked to a lady and asked her about her financial goals. She said that she wanted to make $50,000 per year. When I asked her “Why not more?” she said, “I’m afraid that I will change and my friends won’t like me if I make too much money!” Is this really a “reason,” or is this an excuse? “If you really want something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse.”

4. Laziness:

Most people don’t like to change. And they know that if they want to achieve a goal, they have to change their habits. As an example, if they want to drop a few pounds, they have to start working out and eating better. And many people don’t like to put in any effort. However, the key to success is massive action. Without action, there’s no success. The best way to achieve your goals is to ask yourself if what you are doing TODAY is getting your closer to where you want to be tomorrow.

5. Comfort Zone:

THIS is a big one: We all tend to get comfortable. When we are kids, we have all these dreams of what we wanted to do! And most people have lots of ambitions when they were young and started their career: A nice house, big backyard, traveling the world, buying all these things… and then they get comfortable and compromise. Instead of traveling the world, it’s a vacation in Mexico. Instead of a big house, it’s a “nice house” in a “nice neighborhood.” Instead of buying fancy cars, they buy an SUV because it’s “more practical.”STOP IT! “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!”

Do any of these 5 things sound familiar?
