Inspiring Sylvester Stallone Story | One of My Favorite Quotes

I want to share with you one of my favorite quotes, and an inspiring Sylvester Stallone story.

Here is the quote! “You measure the size of the accomplishments by the obstacles you have to overcome to reach your goals.”

Isn’t that the truth?

If everything were easy, everyone and their grandmother would be doing it.

How does this relate to trading?

Trading can be simple. Trading doesn’t have to be that complicated, but yes, there are some obstacles that you need to overcome.

Talking about obstacles, the other day I read the story of Sylvester Stallone and the movie Rocky.

Who here has seen Rocky?

Sylvester Stallone always wanted to be an actor.

I didn’t know this, when he was born, there were complications during his birth, and because of this, half of his face is paralyzed. Despite this, he decided to become an actor.

Now, this is where it got tough for him.

Most people said, ‘Hey, you know what? The way you look is a little bit rough, and the way you talk, you can’t really be an actor.’

So at some point, he was inspired to write the screenplay, Rocky.

He gave it to a producer and the producer said, “Yeah, you know what? This is not bad at all. I’ll give you $150,000 or $160,000 for it. However, you cannot have any part in this movie.”

And Sylvester Stallone said, “No. I want to be in the movie. Otherwise, there’s no deal.”

This was the time when Sylvester Stallone was broke.

He was so broke that he had to sell his dog in front of a liquor store for $50 just to put food on the table, and yet still he turned away $160,000.

Because he believes in himself so much, right?

At some point, the producer said, “OK, whatever. You can star in the movie.” Sylvester Stallone insisted on playing Rocky and as you know, the rest is history.

Fun Fact

The dog that he sold for $50, rumor has it that he bought it back for $15,000. Sylvester Stallone now has millions and millions of dollars.

Why am I’m telling you this?

Going back to the quote, isn’t this the truth? “You measure the size of the accomplishments by the obstacles you have to overcome to reach your goals.”
