Market Recap for Monday, January 9th, 2017
Today's trading looked a lot like yesterday.
Stocks were lower in early trading, then rallied late morning. But after trading at session highs, a retreat and sideways move into the close left the major indices mixed.
And once again it was all about the NASDAQ.
The NASDAQ rallied to record levels today. And finishing higher for the 6th consecutive trading session, the NASDAQ hasn't had a losing day this year!
Here's where the major indices ended the day:
- The S&P finished flat. The S&P ended at 2,269.
- The DOW ended 0.2% lower. Dropping 32 points, the DOW closed at 19,856.
- The NASDAQ was up 0.4%. With a 20 point gain the NASDAQ finished at 5,552.
Crude Oil (CL) resumed its slide with another 2.1% loss. With a close of $50.85, CL is trading at a 30-day low and is down 5.7% this week.
Tomorrow's calendar features Crude Oil Inventories at 10:30am ET.
