Right now, I’m visiting my brother Michael in Germany for a few days before meeting with our Mastermind Members next week.
And yesterday, something happened that I did NOT expect.
Michael moved from Munich to Leipzig a few years ago.
Leipzig is the second-largest city in former East Germany, and yesterday, we walked through the city center and experienced the amazing history:
Within an hour-long walk, we saw it all:
The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
We saw the statue of the famous composer Johann Sebastian Bach, who lived from 1723 until his death in Leipzig.
We saw the university. The most famous alumni are writer Johann Wolfgang Goethe, philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, composer Richard Wagner, and former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
We saw the St. Nicholas Church, in which in 1989 the peaceful demonstrations started that eventually led to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany.
We also saw monuments reminding us of the dark past of Germany.
So within only 60 minutes, we were reminded of the things that make Germany great, as well as the ugly things that have happened in our history.
It was an emotional rollercoaster
I didn’t expect to experience
all of that yesterday.
And while walking the city and experiencing the amazing history, I remembered something that I’ve read a while back:
We should learn from history, not rewrite it.
So now you know what’s on my mind this morning 🙂
Today, we are continuing our tour because there’s so much to see.
And tomorrow, we will do an Escape Room since it’s supposed to rain all day.
