I love eating ice cream – especially hot fudge sundaes – but I don’t like scooping it.
When you take the ice cream out of the freezer, it’s always so hard, and when I’m using an ice cream scooper it always feels like the ice cream is jumping out of the box, over my shoulder and onto the floor behind me.
So I let the ice cream sit on the counter for a few minutes, and then I forget about it and it turns into slush. So I put it back into the freezer and then I have the same problem!
I thought there must be a better way…
So I went on a mission to find the best ice cream scooper.
And what’s the best place to find ice cream scoopers? Well, it’s the best place to find anything – AMAZON.
So after browsing a few pages, I found it!
The Midnight Scooper!
It looks very slick!
And it has 3,125 ratings – most of them 5 stars:

BUT…. it costs $37!
Most ice cream scoopers are $10. So is it really worth spending $37?
The good thing about Amazon:
You can always return it if you don’t like it.
So I decided to take the plunge and buy it!
The Scooper arrived a few days later…
And I was so excited to try it out!
After all, it’s a $37 ice cream scooper!
I took it out of the box, washed it off (as recommended), took some ice cream out of the freezer, opened the lid…
…and this scooper glides through the ice cream like a hot knife through butter.
Seriously, THIS is the best ice cream scooper I’ve ever used.
So why am I telling you this story?
Because it has changed the way I buy things now.
Recently, we had some shrimp for dinner. So we bought fresh shrimp and started peeling and deveining them.
YES: That little black line that you see on the back of the shrimp is actually poop!
Deveining shrimp is quite tedious when you do it with a knife.
So I went to Amazon again and looked for a shrimp deveiner.
There are shrimp deveiners for $6.99, and then there’s the “Toadfish”:
Guess which one I bought…. EXACTLY!
Back in the days, I used to buy the cheap stuff.
You know what they say:
“You get what you pay for.”
And “they” are right:
The cheap stuff never lasts.
It breaks easily, it doesn’t work as well, and you have to replace it more often.
In the long run, it’s actually cheaper to buy the good stuff in the first place.
So now I only buy things that are going to last.
Recently, somebody asked me why our PowerX Optimizer costs several thousand dollars. Easy: because it’s AWESOME, and we are releasing new versions every month to make it even better.
I’d rather invest more for a tool that actually works than being cheap and paying for some stuff that doesn’t work – or breaks after you used it a few times.
Making sense?
Back to trading….
