To Fisherman’s Wharf!

Right now, my daughter Vivian and I are in San Francisco.

Yesterday, we took an Uber to Fisherman’s Wharf and did all the touristy stuff we could find.

We did have a hot fudge sundae at Ghirardelli!

So good 🙂

We decided to come back later and watch the fireworks, which were AMAZING!

And instead of taking an Uber, I said:

“Let’s figure out public transportation here in San Francisco.”

After all, Vivian is looking into colleges and it might be handy to know how to ride the bus and the subway.

We did the same in New York a few months ago, …

… and it didn’t go well

The first time we took the subway in New York,

… we entered the wrong station,
… then we went to the wrong platform,
… scanned the metro card incorrectly (somehow!) and wasted $10.

But in the end, we were Pros!

So we decided to do the same here in San Francisco.

What can possibly go wrong?

Well… for starters, you could enter the wrong hotel when looking for directions and ride the subway for 3 stops the wrong way!.

Stop shaking your head!

It could happen to anyone, …. right? RIGHT?

I used my phone to scan the ticket and Vivian got in,

… but then it declined when I tried it again.

So now Vivian is inside, I’m outside the gated area and we just wave at each other. Dang it!

But eventually, we figured it out.

Would it have been easier to take an Uber and head back to the hotel?

Of course, that would have been easier!
But as I said: I’m determined to figure it out.

And after making some rookie mistakes, I did.

YES, it would have been easier if somebody showed me how it’s done. That would have avoided some of my headaches.

It would be easier if somebody showed me the RIGHT way to do it the first time.
